Alhama de Granada

Alhama de Granada is a small Andalusian town perched dramatically above a deep gorge carved by the Río Alhama. Known for its thermal baths dating back to Roman times, it blends natural beauty with layered history. The old quarter holds a mix of Moorish and Christian architecture, narrow streets, and quiet plazas. Surrounding landscapes offer olive groves, rolling hills, and hiking routes with striking views of the Tajos cliffs. Antequera

Only a 35 minute drive or 15 minutes on the high speed train, a moderate size town with a vibrant and compact centre, full of bars, cafes and designer shops.

El Camino del Ray

This is a must This almost 8-kilometre path was once considered one of the most dangerous in the world. Today the entire route has been carefully restored, but although it’s now much safer, one thing hasn’t changed – the unique experience of strolling along walkways hanging over 100 metres up on a sheer cliff face. Granada

A 45 minute drive or 25 minutes by high speed train from Loja takes you to the amazing Granada city and capital of the Granada Province, situated on the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountain range and Ski resorts there is so much to see and do here including the stunning Alhambra Palace, this sprawling hilltop fortress complex encompasses royal palaces, serene patios, and reflecting pools from the Nasrid dynasty, as well as the fountains and orchards of the Generalife gardens.

Iznajar

Just a 25 minute drive away, Iznajar is the nearest lake district, Iznajar reservoir is the largest in all of Andalucia and offers the wonderful Valdearenas beach where you can spend the day relaxing on the beach and using the watersports facilities on the lake.

Iznajar itself is a picture postcard white washed village with several walks up to the castle where you will find lots of small squares, shops and view points on route.

Look out for Patio de las Comedias, this enchanting patio is filled with blue flower pots and offers some spectacular views.

Skiing
